Captain's Blog 14 April 2018

Saturday 14th April 2018

On the topic of this weekend’s competitions, it would be remiss of me not to mention the appearance of our course. I’m sure we all remember the torrential rain that fell last Monday resulting in the course being closed for 4 days. I was so impressed with the way that a) our course had held up to the dreadful conditions through the week and b) the beautiful way in which our course was presented. The tee-boxes, greens and bunkers were pleasing on-the-eye from every angle and it made me proud in my stomach of the club that I represent. Huge thanks go to Nigel and his team and the Green Team for their hard work under difficult circumstances. I eagerly anticipate to see what they can produce given some favourable weather conditions *fingers crossed*

A par 5 that plays its distance from the back tee, bunkers at the good driving distance left and right sides of the fairway, insist you keep it straight off the tee. Tree lined down the out of bounds left and trees with graduated rough down the right make this a fairly tight fairway. The fairway narrows at the potential landing area of the send shot with large overhanging trees and bunkers, making the golfer think their strategy for the required score. The green is protected front right with a well defined high faced bunker and two less formidable bunkers on the left. A tight green to hit from the right with little room for error left or back. Fully deserves it's strong index of four.
